Mega First Corporation Berhad (“MFCB”), through its subsidiary Mega First Plantation (Cambodia) Ltd (“MFPC”), has developed a 6,420-hectare coconut and macadamia plantation in Mondulkiri, Cambodia. The land concession began in April 2013, and since then the company spent several years evaluating the most suitable crops to cultivate based on Mondulkiri’s environmental conditions and economic viability. By 2017, large-scale planting of coconuts and macadamia nuts was underway, and to date, approximately 2,800 hectares have been planted.
The coconut trees are gradually reaching commercial maturity, with production expected to scale up in 2025. Meanwhile, the macadamia trees will require an additional 1-2 years to reach commercial maturity.
After extensive deliberation, MFPC decided to harvest coconut flower sap to process into coconut sugar products like syrup and granulated sugar. This decision is driven by the limited availability of pure, unadulterated coconut sugar in both industrial and retail markets. Additionally, there is growing global demand for these products. The superior health benefits of coconut sugar compared to refined white sugar further enhance its market potential.
In 2024, Mega First Corporation Berhad (“MFCB”), through its subsidiary Mega First Agrotech Sdn Bhd, made a strategic investment in CSC Agriculture Holdings Sdn Bhd (“CSCAH”).
CSCAH is an investment holding company, with its subsidiaries specialising in fruit and vegetable cultivation, as well as wholesale distribution. The group currently operates and manages over 1,100 acres of farmland across Johor and Pahang, including more than 600 acres developed with a variety of crops and advanced greenhouse facilities dedicated to the production of clean leafy vegetables.
